On Friday, December 21, 2012, the Urban Patch and Fall Creek Gardens hosted their Winter Solstice Open House at the Urban Patch’s Delaware Project in Historic Meridian Park. The event celebrated a year of the two organizations’ collaboration in the Mapleton-Fall Creek area to help promote community gardening, nutrition, self-help, and urban revitalization. The event included a video presentation of Fall Creek Gardens’ and Urban Patch’s work the past year, and a poetry reading by Mijiza Soylini around the evening’s theme of urban community and development.
