Free Event at Service Center offers fun for everyone
Our raised bed urban garden in the parking lot at Service Center yielded cucumbers, greens, green tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and a variety of fragrant herbs such as sage and rosemary. You are invited to celebrate the harvest by sampling pizza with toppings made from this produce.
Fall Family Fun Day happens Saturday at the Service Center at 3819 Lafayette Rd. and runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There, you can:
* Enjoy a bounce house, face painting and balloon animals (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
* Experience live animals (mammals, birds and reptiles) courtesy of Animalia (noon to 3 p.m.)
* Meet the resident Service Center chickens.
* Partake in story time with from 2 to 3 p.m. with the Eagle Branch library.
* Browse offerings from local organizations offering resources for children and families, as well as ecology, food and health.
* Contribute to CityWrite, a nation-wide simultaneous prompted writing project.
* Visit the current exhibition at Service Center gallery: Herencia: The New Latino Identity/La Nueva Imagen Latina.
